Hello all!! I’m Sarah. I’ll start with a few words to describe myself: Budding Artist, Gleeful Knitter, Free/Tree Hugger, Classicist/ Historian, Comic and Movie maven, Space-Freak and all-around-Geek Adventurer. When I’m not talking about Knitting, Comics, Books, or Cooking, I’ll be excitedly sharing my Knowledge Discoveries! And also Outer Space…I’m an avid star-gazer, and inspiration best stems from the most exciting unknowns!
I’m a Junior in college, double-majoring in Ancient Greek and History, either U.S. or Science/Technology. I work at Washington Hall student theatre, home to the infamous ghost of George “The Gipper” Gipp. I’m also a technical assistant in Science Computing (<–GEEK, proudly). I hope to get a volunteer position at the Adler Planetarium some day. Fall 2010 I’m picking up a research position in the campus Museum of Biodiversity.
It is my life long goal to go into public education someday–museum education, that is. Whether I work in a traditional museum or give tours around sites of historic importance, I hope to inspire wonder and a thirst for knowledge and discovery in people of all ages and backgrounds. I worked with historical societies in Virginia and did Reenacting for many years and hope to return to it someday. One day I plan to move back down south or head out West and see what the world has to share where the stars are a little brighter and the world a little more colourful.
This will, though, [hopefully] primarily concern my projects and discoveries in Knitting and the arts as well as my ongoing love affair with comics. I find exciting ways to conflate my interests…knitting Geeky scarves or hats with historic patterns or natural themes; attempting to reproduce historic costumes or past art forms. I’ll share articles or experiences that influence creativity along the way, as my interests are divergent yet intriguingly compatible. I hope we all can learn and create together!!
